Casio Debuts New Widescreen Digicams

DOVER, N.J. — Casio debuted a pair of Z-series Exilim digital cameras last month featuring a new wide angle LCD.
Both the EX-Z75 and Z1050 incorporate a new 2.6-inch wide-angle LCD screen which displays camera settings on one side of the monitor, freeing the remainder of the screen for picture framing.
Both models are compatible with the new SD High Capacity (SDHC) format memory card and offer the eBay Best Shot mode for shooting items according to the auction site's specifications.
They will both ship in March and be available in pink, blue, black and silver.
The 10-megapixel EX-Z1050 features a 3x optical zoom lens, a continuous shooting mode of 7 fps for 2-megapixel images using a high-speed SD card, 15MB of internal memory and a 370-photo battery life.
The camera's Exilim Engine 2.0 processing system can analyze the velocity and vector of a moving subject and adjust ISO sensitivity and shutter speed to reduce image blur, the company said. The camera also employs the company's anti-shake DSP and can record VGA/25 fps video with electronic stabilization.
When set in high sensitivity mode, the camera features an ISO of 1,600.
The Z1050, which replaces the Z1000, also offers auto-tracking AF to maintain focus on a moving object, and 38 scene modes. It will retail for a suggested $299.
The 7-megapixel EX-Z75 replaces the Z70, adding a new 2.6-inch wide-angle LCD display. It will feature a 3x optical zoom lens, 8MB of internal memory, anti-shake DSP, 34 scene modes and a 230 image battery life
The EX-Z75 will have a suggested retail of $229.
