Legacy Industry Embracing New Sources Of Music

Las Vegas — The introduction of the compact disc more than two decades ago helped lift the fortunes of the home audio industry, which was reeling from recession, high interest rates, inflation and a lack of any great advances in audio performance.

Today, there is no silver bullet, or disc. But there are many potential solutions that in the aggregate could help turn the market around, including solutions that let consumers tap into the many exciting sources of music that have proliferated in the digital age: iPods, Internet radio, downloads on the PC, satellite radio and digital AM/FM broadcasts in HD Radio.

To discuss these technologies' potential in the home audio market, TWICE assembled a panel of leading audio suppliers. They were asked to respond by email to questions posed by TWICE. Here's what they had to say:
