Alpine Promotes $699 Systems

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 10/9/2006

Torrance, Calif— Alpine announced a fall promotion on a 400-watt CD player with iPod controller plus amp and speakers for a suggested $699, through Dec. 25, $181 less than if the products were purchased separately.

Components include a CDA-9856 CD/MP3/WMA Ai-NET receiver; a KCE-422i Full Speed iPod cable; an MRP-M450 mono amplifier; two pairs of SPS-17C2 6.5-inch coaxial two-way speakers, and an SWS-1042D 10-inch dual 4-ohm subwoofer.

Alpine also announced its Blackbird docking portable GPS is now offering real-time traffic through NAVTEQ Traffic. The company also plans to ship this month a long delayed docking station for the Blackbird.

Alpine is also releasing two adapters originally shown at International CES. One is a video iPod adapter to connect an iPod to a car video monitor, offering both composite and S video. The KCE-415i interface box ships in mid-October at $90 suggested retail.

A new USB KCA-620M adapter can be used for playing subscription and other downloaded media from PlaysForSure and DRM devices through an Alpine AI-NET head unit.

The KCA-620M has a standard USB connector that can work with flash drives and portable hard drives as well as portable audio players at $160.
