Solar Style Introduces Sun-Powered Mobile Charger

By Colleen Bohen -- TWICE, 9/25/2006

Baltimore — Solar Style's Solarola charger for mobile electronics products provides an alternative for consumers who may not always have access to an A/C outlet to recharge their cellular phone or iPod. The portable charger — whose size and shape is reminiscent of a cellphone — uses solar panels to power connected devices and is recommended for any electronics product with medium energy consumption.

The company says the charger does not require direct sunlight but is capable of converting any light into usable power. It also says it takes 12-14 hours to achieve a full charge.

The base charger is available now for a suggested $39.99. Users also must purchase corresponding connectors to fit their desired device. Prices vary on the connectors, but the iPod connector is set to retail for $8.99.

The company says it will provide a one-year warranty for manufacturer defects and product failure on all of its products, and a lifetime warranty on the solar panels themselves.
