Belkin To Ship Portable Desktops

By Staff -- TWICE, 9/25/2006

Compton, Calif.— Belkin is introducing two portable desktop products designed to make working on a notebook PC more comfortable for the user, allowing for better wrist posture and shielding the user's lap from hot surfaces.

Made of high-quality, furniture-like upholstery, the new CushTop provides increased padded comfort for laptop users. A pocket provides storage for a power adapter and mouse. By flipping its platform over, the CushTop can accommodate small or large notebooks. It is available in three colors: silver, orange and green; and will retail for $39.95.

The new PocketTop doubles as a notebook case and workstation. Its provides storage space for a mouse, power supply and other accessories. A hatch opens to allow access to the storage area and doubles as a handle.

The PocketTop features a built-in cooling pad to keep heat from penetrating through the bottom surface. It is available in silver, orange and green. It will retail for $49.95.

Both products will ship in North America in November.

A December 2005 study of notebook users conducted by Belkin found that 39 percent rarely or never take their notebooks out of the home. Additionally, the study, administered by Insight Express, showed that 43 percent of notebook users keep their PC in the family room, with half of these same owners moving their notebooks to different rooms the home to work.
