Peter Weedfald, who joined Circuit City as senior VP/general merchandise manager this summer from Samsung has become the chain's senior VP/chief marketing officer, succeeding Fiona Dias… Former EchoStar executive and satellite/cable TV veteran Carl Vogel has been named president and will continue as vice chairman of the board. Vogel and Michael Dugan, EchoStar's chief technical officer, had assumed the role after former president/CEO Michael Neuman left last February. In addition Bernard Han, a veteran of the airline industry, joins EchoStar as chief financial officer, succeeding David Rayner, effective Sept. 28. Rayner will assume the new role of executive VP in charge of the national installation and service network... Ben Feingold, worldwide president of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE), is leaving his post and will be replaced by David Bishop, formerly SPHE's North American president. Feingold led the introduction of DVD titles in the 1990s and Blu-ray earlier this year... Irene Baran, former chief operating officer of Monster Cable, joins accessory maker Speck Products as CEO... Gary Shapiro, president/CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association, has been appointed to the U.S. Department of Commerce's Spectrum Management Advisory Committee which provides recommendations on spectrum management... David Berman, ex-training strategy director for Monster Cable, joins HTSA Buying Group as executive director... Shailesh Patel, formerly with EMS Co., joins Auvi Technologies as product development director. Rick Pearce, ex-GPX, has been named sales director and Winnie Mak, former Koss Audio Video Group, named product manager... Robert Haefling, formerly Genesis Microchip corporate marketing VP, was named CEO of Meridian Audio. Stuart Russell, ex- Widex marketing manager, named to the same post at Meridian Audio, a new post. And Alan Douglas, former Forster Electric and Linn Products exec, was tabbed as special projects manager at the firm's R&D department... Rockford veteran Chris Parvin, most recently managing director of Rockford Europe, has left to pursue other opportunities, as yet, unnamed. Parvin was also Rockford's marketing director for 10 years.
