NuVision To Show 1,080p LCD TVs

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 9/11/2006

DENVER — NuVision (booth 2200, ballroom level) will showcase at CEDIA Expo a pair of large-panel 1,080p LCD TV monitors, and its newly shipping Deep Black LCD TV line.

Also on display will be the company's previously announced LED-based DLP rear-projection HDTV set, which is due to ship later this month to select CEDIA dealers and A/V specialty accounts at a $4,399 suggested retail.

The Deep Black LCD TV lineup includes models in the 23W- (shipping now at a $1,199 suggested retail), 26W- (shipping this month at $1,399), 32W- (shipping this month at $1,799), and 37W-inch (shipping now at $2,799) screen sizes.

The TVs have been improved with “NiDO” video processing offering better detail resolution and improved noise reduction; enhanced color processing and flesh tone correction; HDMI input with HDCP copy protection; the capability to accept all signals, including 1,080p; two multi-scan component and S-Video/composite inputs; NuControl, bi-directional RS-232 using a D-sub interface; easier on-screen display graphics, over scan and picture position adjustments; custom input labeling; picture setting memory per input and expanded PIP capability with HD inputs compatibility.

Shipping in the fourth quarter will be a pair of 1,080p big-screen LCD TV monitors in the 42W- and 47W-inch screen sizes, NuVision said. Both monitors feature new cabinet designs with bottom mounted detachable speakers. Pricing will be announced later.

Meanwhile, NuVision said its first LED-DLP rear projection set featuring 1,080p resolution and a 52W-inch screen size will ship in late September at a $4,399 suggested retail price. The set will feature NuVision's proprietary Digital Switching Deep Black (DSDB) system that is said to produce deeper blacks by precisely controlling the LED output during dark scenes.

Meanwhile, NuVision will also use CEDIA to introduce two long-time industry veterans that recently joined its team. Charles Boornazian and Paul Fredrickson were recently hired as the company's vice presidents of sales and marketing and strategic planning, respectively.
