First Harley/XM For Motorcycles

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 8/8/2005

WASHINGTON— XM Satellite Radio announced it officially entered the motorcycle market, and will equip the 2006 Harley-Davidson FLHTCUSE Screamin' Eagle Ultra Classic Electra Glide, with the first standard satellite radio for motorcycles.

Until now, only third-party suppliers offered XM satellite radio add-on kits for motorcycles.

The new XM radio will debut this month. It is part of the Screamin' Eagle Ultra's standard audio system by Harmon/Kardon. The XM radio may also be added as an option to other Harley-Davidson motorcycles, including the 2006 FLHX, FLHTC, FLTR and FLHTCU.

The audio system offers 20 watts-per-channel power in an AM/FM/XM-ready CD system with MP3 capability. It includes a high-resolution display to show XM channel, artist and song title. An optional 40-watt amplifier is also available as well as a rider-to-passenger intercom with push-to-talk headset communication.
