Best Buy Picks Up Lenovo Line

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 4/24/2006

New York— Lenovo will start selling its branded and Thinkpad business-oriented desktop and notebook computers through Best Buy for business kiosks and the retailer's online store.

Under the deal, Lenovo will sell its just-introduced Lenovo 3000 notebook line along with its ThinkPad and ThinkCenter lines. Neither company announced when the models would hit Best Buy's shelves.

Lenovo, which purchased IBM's personal computer business last year, announced a major expansion last month, introducing Lenovo-branded business-class desktop and notebook computers. Previously, the company had only used IBM's old ThinkPad and ThinkCenter brands.

Best Buy joins Office Depot as Lenovo's second major U.S. retailer.

Lenovo executives have stated in the past that the company has no plans to expand into the consumer PC market even though the company sells a full line of computer products available in the Asian market.
