Averatec Offers Up Large-Screen Notebook

Santa Ana, Calif. — Notebook maker Averatec has introduced the 7100 Series notebook line featuring a 17W-inch display.

The 7100 Series is based on AMD's Turion 64 mobile processor, is an inch thick and weighs just over 7 pounds. Averatec is making three processors available in the series, the 1.8GHz AMD Sempron 3300+, the 1.6GHz AMD Turion 64 and the 1.8GHz Turion 64. In addition, 512MB or 1GB of DDR memory and an 80GB or 100GB hard drive can be installed. It comes with a dual-layer DVD burner

The line is being offered with Windows XP or Media Center Edition, and it will run Vista when that operating system becomes available later this year.

The configure-to-order notebook has a price range of $849 to $1,199.
