Atlantic Jumps Into High-Capacity Media Storage

By Staff -- TWICE, 4/24/2006

Santa Fe Springs, Calif. — Boosted by the fact consumers are demanding higher-capacity home storage for their CDs, DVDs and gaming media — while still holding on to their VHS collections — Atlantic has created a line of high-capacity media storage which will be introduced in 2006. Many of the products can hold more than 500 CDs and DVDs.

Prominent in the new line, Atlantic's Windowpanes media storage is designed with both style and efficient space utilization in mind. The unit features two sliding doors so there is no need for extra opening space. Media is stored discreetly behind the sliding door, with glass panes that add a touch of grace to any home entertainment center area, said the company.

The product, at a suggested $149.99 retail, boasts room for 576 CDs or 240 DVDs. It measures 49 inches high by 32 inches wide by 9.5 inches deep.

The company's Oskar cabinet, with hinged vertical doors, features four doors to hide media. It holds 360 CDs or 160 DVDs, and measures 38.4 inches high by 25 inches wide by 7.5 inches deep. Suggested retail was not available from the manufacturer.

Atlantic's Podium features swinging doors to hide media and maximizes space efficiency with storage in the doors as well as in the main cabinet. Suggested retail is $149.99, and the unit holds 756 CDs or 360 DVDs.

The Executive Hard Case is made of rugged and lightweight molded materials. It features rows of non-jewel-case disc sleeves for optimal storage capacity. Consumers can flip through CDs and DVDs to locate movies or music. Each disc has a reference number directly on the sleeve, allowing consumers to find the media much faster than with other storage cases, said Atlantic.

The Executive comes in a variety of sizes, ranging from 200, 390 and 600 discs, plus a 20-disc travel case in the same style. Suggested retails range from $39.99 to $89.99.
