Sunrise, Fla. — The Battery Xtender, available from More Power 2U, is said to recharge alkaline batteries of all sizes. With this unit, alkaline cells, generally known to have a finite shelf life before being discarded, can be simultaneously recharged by the Xtender.
Recharge sizes include AA, AAA, C and D, in 1.2- to 1.5-volt disposable alkaline batteries, where useful life can be extended up to 10 times or more, said the company. The Xtender also is capable of recharging nickel metal-hydride, nickel cadmium, zinc carbon, titanium and rechargeable alkaline manganese cells.
The Xtender is designed to restore voltage of common throwaway batteries to near-new capacity, without any risk of harm to the user. The process eliminates heat or gas buildup and the possibility of bursting, said the company.
Using a process called Smart Charge, Battery Xtender automatically adjusts the charging currents in proportion to the size of the battery being charged, then turns off when charging is completed. LED indicators located on the front of the device allow users to “easily” monitor the charging status.
The key to recharging alkaline batteries with the Battery Xtender is that the cells must not have been completely drained of their power in previous use. This way, everyday disposable batteries can be recharged many times over, said the company.
Suggested retail for the Battery Xtender is $39.95.
