Vongo, HP Reach Cross Promotion Deal

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 3/1/2006 5:00:00 AM

Englewood, Colo. Starz Entertainment Group said it has reached a co-marketing agreement with HP to promote SEG’s new Vongo video download service on all HP and Compaq consumer notebook computers in the United States.

The agreement gives HP customers a one-month, unlimited trial subscription to the Vongo service, which enables subscribers to download video movies, concerts, extreme sports and other content from more than 1,000 titles offered every month.

A special Vongo promotional offer will come bundled with HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario notebooks beginning this Spring, the company said.

Full subscriptions to Vongo are offered at a $9.99 monthly rate, which notebook purchasers can sign up for upon completion of the trial period. Vongo subscribers can download movie and video selections to a PC, plus two other devices, such as new PortableMediaCenter devices from Toshiba, LG and possibly others, for a total of three per account. Additionally, select popular pay-per-view titles are available for $3.99 per movie.

SEG said it is “the largest content aggregators in Hollywood,” with exclusive Internet distribution rights to many of the most popular theatrical films. Films available on Vongo will include “Hitch”, “The Aviator,”” The Incredibles”,” National Treasure”, “Sin City,” and coming later this year “Bewitched,” “Flight Plan,” “Rent,” “Chicken Little”, and “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.”

Starz Entertainment Group has exclusive distribution agreements for classic and favorite films from leading Hollywood studios including Walt Disney Pictures, Miramax Films, Touchstone Pictures, Hollywood Films, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Columbia Tri-Star, Screen Gems, Revolution Studios and more. Select recent films are available exclusively from Universal Pictures and New Line Cinema and library and classic titles are provided by a wide array of Hollywood studios.
