Staff -- TWICE, 2/12/2001

The consumer electronics industry had a high profile at the inauguration of President George W. Bush last month. Zenith and Samsung provided HDTVs and conventional TVs during the ceremonies and other events, while Panasonic provided its Astrovision screens on the mall so spectators could see what was happening. Top executives were also there to wish the new president well, including Recoton chairman Bob Borchardt with CEA president Gary Shapiro, Morgan Stanley venture capitalist Chris Shapau and Panasonic America chairman Don Iwatani. Also in attendance (bottom picture, from left) were: Zenith public affairs VP John Taylor, Panasonic media relations director Jim Reilly, Samsung Electronics senior VP/general manager of consumer electronics M.W. Lee, Panasonic president Andy Takani and Ken Crane's director and presidential inaugural senior technical adviser Tom Campbell.
