JL Audio Expands CleanSweep

LAS VEGAS — JL Audio introduced two new OEM integration modules expanding the CleanSweep — one of the first name-brand OEM integration devices — into a line of products.

The company also introduced a new A series of amplifiers, representing its first new amplifier line in three years. It replaces the outgoing e series and includes six models — three mono and three full range — at suggested retail prices from $229.95 to $449.95.

The new CleanSweep modules include the CL-SSI—Signal Summing Interface. It takes a signal from the factory radio that's been divided (crossed over) and sums it back to full range. Crossed-over radio signals can be found in vehicles including Lexus, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Ford and Lincoln, said VP marketing Manville Smith. The signal can then be connected to the original CleanSweep CL441 for processing. The CL-SSI is expected to ship in April at a suggested retail price of $119.

It is joined by the CL-SES Source Expander Switch that allows the integration of multiple sources (iPod, DVD, satellite radio) into a single auxiliary input. It can be used with the CleanSweep or with a head unit. Shipping is expected in April at a suggested retail price of $129.

Smith said JL Audio is expanding the CleanSweep line because “in three or four years, our core demographic will be driving cars with this problem,” referring to cars with radios that cannot be easily replaced. The company also lowered the price of the original CleanSweep CL 441 by $50 to $349.

Also new from JL Audio is a W3v3 woofer. It replaces the v2 in 8-inch, 10-inch, 12-inch and 13.5-inch sizes ranging from $239.95 to $324.95 for sizes 10 inches and up (8-inch pricing will be announced), with shipping expected in April. The company also expanded its stealth subwoofer box line to 10 models and added a new M Series line of marine speakers (now based on the new A series).
