Skullcandy Finds A 'Link' With New Product Line

By Staff -- TWICE, 1/16/2006

Las Vegas — Skullcandy debuted an audio accessories product called Proletariat NC-Link, a hands-free, noise-cancellation headphone that allows users to listen to music without noise distraction and take phone calls into their headphone while the music is automatically turned off. The compact headphone is shipping with a $149.95 suggested retail.

Another Skullcandy debut at International CES here was Link Street Pack, which integrates the Park City, Utah-based company's Link technology into a backpack, allowing users to listen to music and answer their cellphones completely hands-free via straps on the backpack.

Pockets in the backpack hold a portable music player, cellphone and other audio devices such as a CD player. The backpack is equipped with a custom amp pod that runs on 4 AA batteries, which allow up to 40 hours of play time. The battery pack and amp pod are located in a hidden pocket inside the backpack.

The backpack will be available in three different styles at a suggested $169.95. The Street Pack, currently being shipped, is targeted toward students and commuters. The Hydro Pack is geared toward mountain bikers since it is designed as a hands-free drink-delivery system. The Snow Pack is designed for snow boarders and will have extra pockets for avalanche tools.

Bluetooth Link features a high-end stereo headset with a wire connection to a user's music source. It pauses music when a call is received wirelessly via any Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone.

The Bluetooth Link, packaged with high-end stereo headset headphones, can be purchases for a suggested $99.95, with shipping scheduled for the first quarter.
