Averatec Ships New Thin And Light Laptop

Santa Ana, Calif.— Notebook maker Averatec has launched its 4100 series of thin and light laptops based on AMD's Turion 64 mobile processor.

The 4100 series, which weighs in at 4.7-pounds and is 1-inch thin, is available immediately from Best Buy, Circuit City and Costco with a $1,099 street price.

The model is based on a 13.3-inch WXGA display with AveraBrite technology, 512MB of memory, an 80GB hard drive, a multiformat DVD burner, Wi-Fi and three USB ports. The device incorporates Averatec's PowerNow battery conservation technology.
