Promaster Charger Offers Built-in Battery Tester

By Staff -- TWICE, 9/26/2005

Fairfield, Conn. — The Promaster XtraPower PRO 59-minute charger is being marketed as the first fast “smart” nickel metal-hydride (NiMH) charger with a built-in battery tester. Available from the Photographic Research Organization, the ultra-compact charger will charge to full capacity most NiMH AA/AAA batteries in 59 minutes or less.

The charger matches the charging rate to the needs of the individual batteries and keeps batteries cool during charging, thus extending the life and performance of the batteries. The charger continuously measures and optimizes the energy acceptance level, applying a rapid charge initially and then reducing to a trickle charge when peak voltage is reached.

Additional features include a built-in battery level tester with three-level LED fuel gauge, independent charge channels that charge two or four batteries simultaneously, international power compatibility and four high-capacity 2500mAh AA NiMH batteries and a DC car cord.

Availability is October at an expected retail range of $69 to $99.
