Fujitsu Adds Integrated PDPs

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 9/19/2005

INDIANAPOLIS— Fujitsu unveiled at CEDIA Expo, here, its first high-definition Plasmavision models that incorporate digital-cable-ready capability and ATSC tuning.

The company is adding the fully integrated models to assist those dealers with customers needing little or no custom installation work, said Tedd Rozylowicz, Fujitsu General Americas' president.

“Our dealers who do less custom-installation business will find the integrated-tuner models more helpful in closing sales,” said Rozylowicz.

Initial models include the 42W-inch P42XTA51US (shipping in November at a $5,999 suggested retail) and the 50W-inch P50XTA50US (shipping in September at $7,999).

The 42W-inch model will be Fujitsu's first non-ALiS model in the screen size. Panel resolution is listed as 1,024 by 768. Fujitsu will continue to carry ALiS panels in the 42W-inch PDP monitor line.

The 50W-inch model will also add speakers and a three-year warranty.

Rozylowicz said Fujitsu will add more digital-cable-ready models in with integrated ATSC tuning in March and April, but will also maintain a full line of monitor-only PDP products.
