Eclipse Unveils New Head Units

Staff -- TWICE, 1/22/2001

TORRANCE, CALIF. -Eclipse launched a new line of CD receivers at CES, capped by the top-of-the-line model CD8061, which features a new 16-volt balanced output at 55 ohms-claimed to be the highest in the industry.

The new five-model line includes built-in electronic crossovers, auxiliary inputs and compatibility with the company's E-COM voice-control unit. Three of the models-the CD8061, CD8051 and CD5441-also have a rear-mounted connector for adding an MP3 player or an SDAR receiver.

The same three models have a motorized flip-down display that is larger and brighter than in the previous line, and all three units allow customizable text messages.

Shipping for the new line is expected in April at prices to be announced in March, said Eclipse.
