Thomson Gyration Air Mouse Frees Users On The GO

By Staff -- TWICE, 6/6/2005

Indianapolis — Thomson is unveiling its next-generation Gyration-brand consumer peripherals featuring radio and gyroscope technology.

Heading the debut is the Gyration GO 2.4GHz cordless optical “air mouse,” which allows consumers to use natural hand movements to operate the mouse, resulting in increased mobility, the ability to control multiple applications from any position, and “greatly reduced” repetitive strain that often results from traditional desktop mice, according to the company.

The mouse, which is scheduled for June availability at a $79.95 suggested retail, offers users up to 30 feet of freedom away from their desks. Using programmable swipe buttons, consumers can determine exactly what tools they want to regularly control with a flick of the wrist.

The mouse comes in new colors and shows a sleek contour. Its 2.4GHz radio frequency receiver brings smoother communication between the mouse/keyboard and receiver, said Thomson. Also, the radio is automatically and continuously selecting channels to avoid interference from other products near the PC.

With Bundled GyroTools Media Control software users can customize two media buttons for regularly used actions, such as highlighting during a presentation or launching a URL while Web surfing.

The GO mouse and compact keyboard combo have a suggested $129.95 retail. Later in the summer, a mouse with full-sized keyboard will be available.
