Brooklyn, N.Y. — The next-generation UniMax Rapid charger from DigiPower is called by the maker a “groundbreaking” way to recharge a digital camera battery. The process, which combines speed, versatility, convenience and low price, allows camera users to charge lithium-ion rechargeable cells without the hours-long wait typically required for powering up, said DigiPower.
Called the AC/DC Ultra Fast Rapid charger, the new unit offers a universal folding-plug design and also adapts to outlets in most countries worldwide, enabling travelers to eliminated wall-plug adapter kits. In addition, a new 12-volt DC adapter has been incorporated for recharging while on the road.
The Ultra Fast Rapid charger is designed to charge digital camera and camcorder batteries in fewer than two hours, said DigiPower, and can accommodate 30 different kinds of rechargeable battery packs.
The company has designed a removable plate system, so each plate can accommodate a different battery. Over 80 percent of all digital cameras on the market today are supported, said DigiPower.
The charger package will include four different plates, with additional plates available directly through the company. The highly portable unit has no wires, and the fold-away plugs allow for ease of packing in a suitcase or day bag.
The charger begins shipping in June at a suggested retail of $29.99.
