Logitech Mouse Introduction Keys On Gamers

By Staff -- TWICE, 5/9/2005

Fremont, Calif. — Logitech has made a number of product introductions this spring.

The company's newest gaming mouse, model MX518, features on-the-fly dpi adjustments. With one click of the mouse, resolution can be changed from a high of 1,600 dpi to a low of 400 dpi. Software is not required, but installing it allows gamers to program specific dpi intervals as opposed to the 1,600, 800 and 400 dpi default setting.

The mouse was scheduled for April availability at a suggested $49.99 retail.

Logitech's first products for PSP gaming is the PlayGear family of accessories, designed to complement the PSP device with innovative functionality, said the company.

These include the PlayGear Pocket case, protective armor for the PSP; PlayGear Stealth earphones, which provide high-quality audio and custom fit with three soft-rubber ear fittings; PlayGear Amp portable speakers, featuring collapsible design and carrying case; and PlayGear Share audio splitter, which creates a pair of open 3.5mm ports, allowing friends to use two sets of earphones on one PSP device.

In addition, Logitech is debuting three new PC headsets, its first speaker for portable music players and new Web cams.

All three new PC headsets feature high-end neodymium drivers.

The stereo USB headset 250 connects to the PC through the USB port and requires no setup — it's plug-and-play. Suggested retail is $39.99.

The premium stereo USB 350 shares the same features as the 250, and offers the added benefit of slightly larger ear pads to help create a better seal against outside noise. These feature inline volume control with a mute button for instant sound level adjustments. Suggested retail is $49.99.

The premium stereo headset uses 3.5mm plugs as the interface with the PC, which allows the headset to work with many portable music players and traditional stereo systems. It has the same physical design as the 350, including inline volume control. Suggested retail is $24.95.

The three headsets were scheduled for April availability.

Logitech's first portable speaker system is designed for iPod or MP3 portable music players. Called mm22, the speakers can be used anywhere, since these are powered by either batteries or the included AC adapter. The system includes three cradle sizes to hold any size of hard-drive-based iPod.

Speakers also come with a hardcover carrying case that stores speakers, cables and power supply, as well as the iPod. Suggested retail is $79.99, and availability had been set for the spring.

The Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Deluxe features a sophisticated and compact design that appeals to the “style-conscious” notebook user and allows the camera to snugly rest on top of a laptop display.

An advanced VGA CMOS sensor delivers consistent high-quality video even in low-light conditions, while the Web cam software features face-tracking technology that keeps people's faces centered in the frame at all times, said Logitech. Suggested retail is $59.99.
