Buying Groups Gaining Ground

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 4/18/2005

New York — The brown- and white-goods industries' seven major retail buying and marketing organizations are countering competitive pressures with new programs, stronger vendor commitments and renewed marketing muscle.

Helping to spur recent market share growth for the independent dealer channel are such developments as Brand Source's new cross-dock shipping program, Nationwide's new order management system, HTSA's new Intranet site, MEGA's health care initiatives, HES's new branding strategy, NATM's new store openings, PRO Group's greater attachment rates, and MARTA's industry-topping sales growth percentages.

The accompanying listing provides an overview of the groups, their buying clout (based on 2004 sales) and key contact information.
