Hyundai First With XM Standard In All Vehicles

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 4/4/2005

WASHINGTON— Hyundai Motor America will offer XM satellite radio as standard factory equipment in every vehicle, across all models, starting next year, becoming the first automaker to offer satellite radio in all vehicles, said XM

By the end of 2006, 75 percent of Hyundai's sales volume will be XM equipped with the remaining models to follow quickly, totaling well over 500,000 units by 2007, XM announced.

Hyundai will offer a three-month free trial subscription for XM. Typically, six out of 10 trial customers become full subscribers to XM, said an XM spokesman.

President/CEO of XM Hugh Panero said, “Including XM as standard equipment in all of its vehicles makes this one of the most aggressive automotive rollouts of XM Satellite Radio ever.”

Sirius Satellite Radio also recently announced new OEM deals with Mercedes Benz, Jaguar and Land Rover.

Both Mercedes-Benz and Land Rover will offer Sirius as a factory installed option on select models and Jaguar plans to offer Sirius as a dealer-installed accessory in four 2005 vehicle lines beginning this May and as port-installed options for the 2006 model year, Sirius said.
