Coby's Quintet Refresh MP3 Lineup

Maspeth, N.Y. – Coby expanded its MP3 portable lineup with four new flash-memory models and its first hard-disk-drive (HDD) model. All feature firmware upgrades and store non-music data files.

The embedded capacity of the flash-memory models ranges from 128MB to 512MB at expected retails of $59.99 to $89.99. Some feature SD/MMC expansion slots. All play MP3 files. The HDD model features 20GB of storage and adds playback of WMA files at an expected retail of $299.99.

The HDD-equipped MP-C941 also features built-in MP3 encoder to rip songs directly from a CD player, voice recorder, FM tuner, data-file storage, up to 12 hours of rechargeable-battery life, recharging base, seven-line display and joystick-type control.

The opening price flash-memory model is the circular-shaped $59.99 128MB MP-C441, which features SD/MMC slot for additional memory, voice recorder and AM/FM/TV tuner. It operates on one AA battery.

At $79.99, the MP-C841doubles as a USB flash drive for a direct connection without cables to a PC's USB port. It features 256MB of internal memory and voice recorder. It uses one AAA battery.
