Ergonomic Keyboard Reduces Errors, Fatigue

Staff -- TWICE, 2/7/2005

Singapore— AbKey, which designs ergonomic computer keyboards, showed its new Premium 1 model of the abKey keyboard at International CES in Las Vegas last month. The product offers a flexible V-shaped ergonomic design and alphabetical layout that facilitates improved accuracy and increases typing speed up to 100 percent, said the company, based here.

Form is integrated with function by completely updating and redesigning the traditional Qwerty keyboard, according to abKey. Yet, the keyboard still maintains all the standard functions of premium keyboards on the market today. The Premium 1 also features multimedia and Internet shortcut keys, and USB input with two handily accessible external ports.

The abKey features all the most used keys on, or close to, the home row, while retaining an intuitive alphabetical arrangement. Thus, said the company, the keyboard is easily mastered in three simple steps, and within an hour, rather than the 42 hours most users would spend learning the standard keyboard.

Also, the company reported the V-shape reduces typing fatigue that generally accompanies a standard keyboard.

Suggested retail is $99, and the unit is available in white, black, silver and red.
