Westinghouse Offers 1,080p LCDs

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 1/24/2005

LAS VEGAS — Westinghouse Digital introduced at International CES its first line of 1,080p resolution high-definition LCD-TV monitors in the 37W-inch, 42W-inch and 47W-inch screen sizes.

The high-resolution line will start shipping in March, with prices starting at a $2,499 suggested retail for the 37W-inch model. All models feature full 1,920 by 1,080p resolution, the highest resolution HDTV format available.

The company is also introducing art frames for its LCD TVs to match the decor of a customer's home. The company plans to sell these add-on items direct to consumers through the Westinghouse Digital Web site. The frames, which will be offered in four color options and three frame styles, will only fit on Westinghouse Digital televisions, the company said.

The company also introduced its first line of LCD PC monitors in the 14-inch, 19-inch and 27-inch screen sizes. The addition is part of the company's strategy to introduce traditional IT products to complement its consumer electronics lines, the company said.

Westinghouse also showed new HD-ready LCD TV monitors in the 27W-inch, 30-inch and 32W-inch screen sizes. All are slated for delivery in the first quarter.

All three models include Faroudja DCDi video processing technology and TrueLife video enhancement. The models are all “frame ready” to accept the new Westinghouse Décor frames.

A full range of inputs, including DVI with HDCP, allows connectivity to the latest digital entertainment devices, according to the company.
