Toshiba Previews Hard Disk Camcorder

Las Vegas— Toshiba previewed two new hard-disk-based camcorders at International CES, here, with plans to ship the units by the fall.
The two new camcorders were shown under glass and will be a part of the company's recently announced “gigashot” family of portable devices, which includes its newly announced portable digital music players.
According to Toshiba, the units will feature both digital still and MPEG-2 video capture and were shown in 4GB and 20GB capacities using Toshiba's 0.85-inch and 1.8-inch hard drives, respectively.
The company plans to release more details on the units later this year.
