New Laser MFPs From Canon

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 1/6/2005

LAS VEGAS — Canon America will introduce three new laser multifunction devices this week as part of a new effort to gather market share in the entry-level segment of the business.

The new models represent a good/ better/best selection with the MF5770 positioned as the flagship model, followed by the MF5750 and MF5730.

The MF5770 is a five-in-one unit with copier, monochrome printer, color scanner, fax and networking capability. It will carry an estimated street price of $499. The step-down MF5750 has a $399 estimated street price and drops the network capability. The entry-level MF5730, $299 estimated street price, lacks the fax machine.

All components shared bythe devices have the same features. The copier/laser printer has 21 page-per-minute output with a 1,200-by-1,600 resolution and 10/100 Ethernet connection; the scanner's resolution is 1,200 by 2,400dpi; and the fax connection uses a 33.6Kbps modem.
