Logitech Unveils PC Remote For Windows Media Center Edition

Staff -- TWICE, 11/22/2004

Fremont, Calif. — Logitech is introducing its first Harmony remote control specifically designed to control a PC running on Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition, as well as any devices that are connected to it, such as a television, home theater stereo receiver or a DVD player.

Called the Logitech Harmony 680, this advanced universal remote is said to help deliver the promise of the Media Center PC experience by allowing it to work seamlessly with all the other devices in the entertainment system, making it easy for users to navigate and enjoy television, music and movies in their living rooms.

The Harmony 680 remote can be set up to add other home entertainment devices and tie commands to a single activity button. It has three dedicated on-touch activity buttons — My Videos, My TV and My Music — that correspond to the same activities found within the Windows XP Media Center OS. Suggested retail is $199.99.

Logitech also is offering its MX 1000 laser cordless mouse, said to be the world's first mouse to use laser illumination tracking. The mouse combines laser with the MX processing engine and Fast RF wireless technology to produce a product that the company calls a benchmark for responsiveness and accuracy.

Logitech said the MX 1000 is the first mouse with a four-level integrated battery indicator. It is rechargeable and includes a docking cradle that is both a wireless receiver and a re-charger.

The MX 1000, shipping this fall, has a suggested $79.95 retail.
