Reflections From A Legend

Staff -- TWICE, 9/20/2004

To The Editor:

Your comments in the recent “Transitions” (TWICE, Sept. 6, p. 14) rekindle memories of two great electronic legends — one living, one no longer with us. Harry Elias has always been a seller who sought to protect his company's good name, JVC, and at the same time recognized the dynamics of competing in the marketplace. He was always available to react to any problem, and his response was speedy and direct. This was true even if it was not what we wanted to hear.

The loss of Terry O'Flynn at the relatively young age of 60 is tragic. Terry, too, was always available and helped secure for Mitsubishi strong retail relationships. He was a truly nice guy who loved the business, his company and his dealers. We will miss his smile and his positive attitude about the electronics industry.

Sincerely,

Jack Luskin

(Editor's note: As many of you know, Jack Luskin is a legendary retailer who ran the departed Maryland-based Luskin's chain, whose operation was one of the founding members of the NATM Buying Group.)
