PhatNoise Bows Digital Media Player For Mazda
LOS ANGELES — PhatNoise Inc., which co-produces the Kenwood Music Keg, said it is supplying digital music players for several Mazda vehicles to be available this month at more than 700 Mazda dealerships. PhatNoise said it custom designed digital players for the new MAZDA3, MAZDA6, MX-5 Miata and RX-8. The PhatNoise Digital Media Player has 20GB of storage for about 500 CDs worth of music. It integrates with the vehicle's existing stereo and steering wheel controls, and offers voice commands for searching through music files, said PhatNoise. The PhatNoise system is also available under the Kenwood Music Keg brand at Volkswagen and Audi dealerships. General Motors said. It will also offer a PhatNoise player option on upcoming crossover sports vans from Saturn, Pontiac, Chevrolet and Buick, said PhatNoise.
Directed Offers Car Security Campaign
VISTA, CALIF. — Directed Electronics announced a new advertising campaign for its car security products, aimed at educating the public about car theft. The “False Sense of Security” in-store display campaign is designed to raise awareness about the limitations of factory security systems. Directed is also offering on its Web site the Viper Index for Auto Theft — an Internet search tool that allows users to access the auto theft statistics for their area. The Index may be accessed at www.viper.com and www.directed.com. A Directed spokesman said, “Auto theft and content theft from vehicles is a $9 billion problem.”
