Sixth Ave. To Open Eighth Location

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 8/9/2004

Springfield, N.J.— New York metro area A/V specialty chain Sixth Avenue Electronics will open a new flagship store in Paramus, N.J., this October.

The 25,000-foot superstore, the company's eighth, will be located in a former Kids "R" Us store on Route 17, one of the nation's most heavily trafficked shopping areas.

The new unit will utilize lifestyle vignettes and multiple theaters in addition to product comparison rooms to demonstrate audio, advanced video and gaming, and home networking and automation systems, and will serve as the prototype for future stores and remodels. "This will be … a remarkable display of form over function," promised president Mike Temiz. "We see real opportunity in the marketplace for a store geared specifically to showcase all the new groundbreaking digital technologies our industry has to offer."

Temiz added that the expansion was prompted by year-over-year growth that was spurred in part by the advent of HDTV.

The family-owned business, now in its 20th year, is a member of the Progressive Retailers Organization (PRO Group).
