Arras To Head TCL-Thomson Joint Venture

INDIANAPOLIS— Less than a week after its creation, the TCL-Thomson Electronics (TTE) joint-venture television company has replaced its president.
Long-time Thomson executive Al Arras has been named president of TCL-Thomson Electronics (TTE), replacing Eric Meurice.
Meurice notified Thomson on Tuesday that he is leaving the new TTE post to become president and CEO of ASML Holding NV, a Dutch supplier of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry.
Arras, who is said to have extensive experience in Asia, takes on the new role immediately. TTE, which is a joint-venture television company between Thomson and China's TCL, was formally established July 29.
Arras was formerly senior executive VP in charge of growth and optimization initiatives, and had "transferred Thomson's audio, video and ATLINKS business activities to Mike O'Hara, Thomson consumer products worldwide marketing executive VP, and "successfully integrated our TV activities within TCL-Thomson Electronics," according to a company spokesman.
Arras will continue to work out of his office here.
Meurice, meanwhile, will become president of ASML, based in Veldhoven, The Netherlands., on Oct. 1, replacing one-time Philips Consumer Electronics CEO Doug Dunn.
Prior to joining Thomson, Meurice held management positions at Dell Computer Corporation, ITT's semiconductor group and Intel Corporation.
Among those reporting to Arras at TTE is Greg Bosler, who heads TTE's North American profit center.
