Peerless Designs 'Breakthrough' In Flat-Panel Mounting

Staff -- TWICE, 6/21/2004

Melrose Park, Ill.— Peerless Industries is bringing to market a "completely new design concept that offers single- or double-stud mounting capability in one mount."

Called a breakthrough in flat-panel mount design by Peerless, the company's Smart Mount helps users overcome the obstacle of mounting to unevenly spaced studs. It offers an all-in-one single- and double-stud design capable of being mounted to a single stud or to 16-inch, 20-inch and 24-inch studs, as well as everything in between.

The mounting is accomplished via a sliding wall bracket design, which helps to ease and speed up installation. The Smart Mount is said to be the only single/double stud all-in-one mounting system with universal capability to support most 37-inch to 60-inch flat-panel televisions.

The mount offers a continuous self-balancing tilt mechanism that adjusts by simply moving the screen by hand without the need for tools or knobs. The screen simply stays in play, said Peerless. The tilt can be locked in place by the flip of a latch, while the lightweight, airy design enhances the flat-model unit, allowing it to be the focal point of a home theater setup.

The Smart Mount will begin shipping this summer at a suggested retail in the low- to mid-$300 range. It is offered in black and silver to complement different screens and home decors.
