Apex Unveils 8-Inch LCD On A DVD Portable

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 6/21/2004

ONTARIO, CALIF.— Apex Digital said it is adding to its DVD assortment a portable player that includes the company's largest LCD view screen.

Apex model PD-840, which features an 8.4-inch LCD screen, will ship this summer at a $325 suggested retail price. The unit features multi-format DVD and CD playback and is compatible with most recordable disc formats, including CD-R/RW and DVD+/-R/RW.

"Our customers have told us how much they enjoy using our portables and how convenient they are, but one of the comments we've also heard is that they wanted a larger screen," said Steve Brothers, Apex Digital president. "So with the PD-840, we're delivering the larger screen our customers want at a price that makes sense for them, without sacrificing any of the quality, functions or features they expect from Apex products."

The PD-840 will join three other Apex Digital DVD portables, including the 7.1-inch LCD PD-710 ($199 at retail), the 6.6-inch LCD PD-660 ($190) and the 5.0-inch LCD PD-500 ($150).
