Pioneer Promos AVIC-N1 With New Diesel Film

Staff -- TWICE, 6/7/2004

LONG BEACH, CALIF.— Claiming its AVIC-N1 navigation/DVD/monitor is now one of the leading navigation products on the market, Pioneer is featuring the AVIC-N1 in a cross promotion with the upcoming Vin Diesel movie called "The Chronicles of Riddick."

On June 10, the eve of "The Chronicles of Riddick" release, Pioneer will sponsor private screenings for the movie, during which commercials on the AVIC-N1 will be shown and DVDs promoting the product will be distributed. Showgoers will be able to take their DVD to a local Pioneer dealer to see if they have won a free AVIC-N1.

Pioneer is offering four private showings in each of 18 markets, according to Pioneer's VP, marketing, Mike Townsen. Consumers will be invited to the previews through a "targeted e-mail blast," he said. "The Chronicles of Riddick" is a sequel to the movie "Pitch Black," which helped launch Diesel's career.

Pioneer claims that the AVIC-N1 has achieved in the two months since its release, greater sales than any of Pioneer's previous navigation units for all of 2003. As a result, said Townsen, Pioneer is now the No. 1 supplier in navigation.
