Jensen Ships New Line

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.—Jensen will begin delivering this month its first line of products since its purchase by Audiovox from Recoton last year. The lineup includes Jensen's largest single product introduction to date, the company said.
Jensen's 12 new in-dash receivers include five models with MP3, starting at $119.99. The company is also introducing three amplifier lines, all rated according to the CEA 2006 amplifier specification. In speakers, the company redesigned its XS line, now with open mesh grills, and added a JX line for a cosmetic alternative.
The new car audio receivers, which are also compliant with the CEA 2006 amplifier specifications, range in price from $69.99 to $169.99. XS and JX speakers include two- and three-way models ranging in price from $39 to $69 for a three-way 6-by-9 model rated at 60 watts RMS.
Audiovox says the Jensen products were developed at a Lake Mary, Fla. design center. When Audiovox purchased Recoton, it created an 8,000-square-foot research and design facility and rehired most of the Jensen engineers and product managers "in order to preserve the engineering culture of Jensen," said a spokesman.
