Olympus Moving HQ

MELVILLE, N.Y. — Olympus confirmed plans to shift its U.S. headquarters and distribution center from its offices here to Upper Saucon Township, Pennsylvania. The move is slated for August 2006 and was spurred by cost-savings and an expired lease on the company's Melville facilities. A tax abatement from Pennsylvania, which Olympus said represented "tens of millions of dollars" of savings tipped the scales in favor of Lehigh County. Olympus will offer all 840 employees "in good standing" an opportunity to make the move.

Kingston Intros 1GB CF

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CALIF.— Kingston Technology Company announced that it is now shipping a 1GB CompactFlash Type I card. The card will be a part of the company's Elite Pro line of higher-performance flash memory. The 1GB card features a write speed of up to 5.2MBps and a read speed of up to 6.1MBps. The card (model CF/1024-S) will retail for a suggested $349.

According to Concord, WYNIT will distribute seven of the company's higher-megapixel digital camera SKUs. The products will range from 2-megapixels to 5-megapixels.
