GE/Sanyo Debuts New Charger Packaging

San Diego— GE/Sanyo has introduced new packaging for its 1-Hour Super Charger, which includes in the package four 2300mAh nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries — for only the price of the charger.
The 1-hour charger comes with a "unique" feature called Battery Capacity Check, which is part of the charger, not a separate device. It uses an LED light to show how much capacity is left in the battery. Green indicates 80 percent to 100 percent capacity, orange 50 percent to 80 percent, and red 50 percent or lower capacity — time to recharge.
"We have talked to consumers and found they weren't using rechargeables because they didn't know how much power was left in the battery," said Joe Carcone, Sanyo VP. "Now we've given them an easy feature to instantly check the power left in their battery."
Included on the new packaging is the statement "Best for Digital Devices," which surrounds a picture of a digital camera.
The charger, with pop-up plug, powers up AA or AAA NiMH or nickel cadmium batteries.
Suggested retail for the currently available charger is $39.99.
