Lenmar Converts Charger To All-In-One Unit

By Staff -- TWICE, 5/3/2004

Camarillo, Calif.— Rechargeable battery maker Lenmar Enterprises has completed a "major update" of its Mach 1 SpeedCharger line by integrating numerous powering-up abilities into a single AA/AAA charger. It supports the lithium-ion (Li-ion) and nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries used in digital cameras, camcorders, PDAs, cellphones and personal electronics devices.

Eliminating the need to have multiple chargers for a wide range of personal electronics products, the Lenmar rapid charger comes standard with three adapter plates. These include one for the Li-ion batteries used in Sony and Canon camcorders and digital cameras, a combination AA/AAA plate and one for a set of four Lenmar-brand NoMEMPro 2300mAh AA NiMH cells.

Adapter plates for other digital camera and camcorder models are available for $5.95, while the company plans to manufacture additional compatible adapter plates for cellphones, PDAs and other popular CE devices.

Up to four AA/AAA batteries can be charged in about one hour, while digital camera and camcorder batteries can be charged in as little as 30 minutes. This is at least two to three times faster than competitive speed chargers, said Lenmar.

The single, worldwide AC/DC-compatible charger also includes LED status indicators, international voltage support of 100-240V AC and a car cigarette lighter adapter for fully charging batteries on the road.

Suggested retail is $99.95, and availability had been scheduled for April..
