New Cordless For Hearing Impaired

By Greg Scoblete -- TWICE, 4/19/2004

CHATTANOOGA, TENN.— Clarity, a division of Plantronics, introduced a new 900MHz analog cordless phone for the hearing-impaired, the Clarity C430.

According to Clarity, the C430 is the first cordless telephone with caller identification to make conversations clearer for people with mild to moderate hearing loss.

The phone features patented "Clarity Power technology" to amplify incoming high-frequency sounds that people who suffer from hearing loss commonly miss. According to Clarity, standard telephones, including those with volume control, do not differentiate between high- and low-frequency sounds. The Clarity Power technology allows the users to adjust high-frequency sounds to accommodate their degree of hearing loss through a control on the phone.

The C430 also features a visual ringer, caller ID on the base station, a large lighted dial pad on the handset, ten memory keys and three one-touch programmable emergency speed dial buttons. The phone uses double-A batteries and requires a modular phone jack and a standard 120-volt outlet. It is compatible with hearing aids.

The Clarity C430 ships this month for a suggested retail price of $159.95.
