Sennheiser Optimizes Audio

By Staff -- TWICE, 4/5/2004

OLD LYME, CONN.— Optimizing the way sound reaches a listener's ear, Sennheiser is offering its HD 555 headphone that embodies Eargonomic Acoustic Refinement, or E.A.R.

The company called the unit the "industry's first optimized acoustic channel coupling improvements that angle audio more directly into the ear."

Designed for users who enjoy a more theatrical listening experience, the HD 555, with its Surround Reflector that offers a more spatial listening experience, is well suited for home theater. The E.A.R. system, which slightly angles the acoustic baffle within each ear cup to assure that sound projects precisely parallel to the ear, helps optimize the ergonomic participation of ears in the listening process.

Other improvements in the HD 555, such as a new diaphragm, help deliver an enhanced low-bass range. The Open-Air dynamic headphone has "extraordinary" adjustability, which helps it hug the head, assuring optimal acoustic positioning. A comfort-conscious design also includes breathable and moisture-regulating ear pads and a one-sided cable fitting The new headband shape for the lightweight headphone, flows smoothly from the sides of each ear cup.

Suggested retail is $169.95.
