By Staff -- TWICE, 4/5/2004

PARK RIDGE, N.J.— Sony is redesigning its StreetStyle line of headphones for the first time since its introduction nearly 10 years ago.

In fusing the latest in style, comfort and technology, the headphones have undergone an ultramodern reconstruction inspired by the cutting-edge style of today's music fans. Four of the new models, including a noise-canceling unit, and sport a similar, more aerodynamic design employing a comfortable fit that doesn't interfere with a hairstyle or hat, said Sony.

Highlighting the new StreetStyle line is the MDR-G94NC noise-canceling model that is made for people on the go. It offers a stylish way to diminish outside noise by 70 percent, while reducing ear fatigue associated with the ambient noise of a train, plane or car.

The noise reduction technology uses a microphone that registers outside noise and instantly generates a sound of a contradicting frequency. The result is that ambient noise is virtually cancelled out, leaving only the chosen audio,

The headphone has a 30mm neodymium driver and large turbo duct that provides full, rich sound with optimized bass. The unit comes in steel gray with silver accents, has a foldable design and supplied adjustable extension cord, all for a suggested $70.

The MDR-G54LP and MDR-G58V headphones, which offer a high power 30mm-neodymium driver, are a good source for music lovers on the move. These include an ultra-light neckband that folds for convenient packing. The MDR-G58V has its own volume control, comes in metallic blue and has a suggested $25 retail. The MDR-G54LP has a suggested $20 retail.

Designed for bass fanatics, the MDR-G74SL headphone is made with a large turbo bass duct for big, vibrant sound. This model, in silver, has a foldable design and sturdy, textured adjustable cord. An extension cord is also included for a suggested $40 retail.

All four headphones had been set for March availability.
