Beaverton, Ore.— VTech Communications is offering what it calls the world's first "necklet" Bluetooth headset, which can be worn around the neck.
Called the VT800, its slim design enhances wearing comfort while supporting quick head movements. Another wireless phone with Bluetooth technology from VTech is the VT825, an ultra-lightweight audio capsule that fits over either the right ear or left ear via a washable rubber ear ring designed to withstand prolonged use.
The VT800 and VT825 utilize the company's SimpleTouch function, which allows users to wirelessly connect to, or disconnect from, incoming and outgoing calls by a simple touch of the headset button. The headsets also feature last-number redial as well as call waiting capabilities.
The VT800 features necklet design, slim contour to enhance wearing comfort, a convenient magnet holder that keeps the earphone from dangling when not in use, and up to six hours of talk time and 100 hours of standby time. The VT825 offers a lightweight design, adjustable and washable earring and additional charging cradle.
A VTech VT850 Bluetooth home phone adapter offers users freedom of movement while using their home phones. It allows any make and model of Bluetooth headset to be used with home phones in the same way they are with wireless phones. Users plug their phone into the adapter, then plug the adapter into the wall. Because the VT850 requires no system reconfiguration, users can pick up their next incoming or outgoing call using their Bluetooth headset.
A VTech wireless accessories line that goes hand-in-hand with virtually any make or phone model includes a variety of cases, pouches and vehicle and travel chargers. It includes seven headsets compatible with cordless or wireless phones featuring a universal 2.5mm jack.
Suggested retails are $79.99 for the VT800 and $99.99 for the VT825. The VT850 base is $99.99. VTech will also be bundling the VT850 base and VT800 necklet at a suggested $149.99 retail. Availability for the line is this spring.
VTech Communications is a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based VTech Holdings.
