Memorex Debuts Mini DVD-R/-RW Discs Line

Staff -- TWICE, 3/22/2004

Santa Fe Springs, Calif.— Memorex is launching a new line of mini DVDs this spring, available in DVD-R and DVD-RW formats.

The Memorex Mini DVD-R/-RW discs are ideal for mobile storage applications, including multi-media presentations, video and data sharing.

The discs, which can store up to 1.4 GB of data, or up to 30 minutes of video, are compatible with DVD-ROM drives and digital video camcorders that have direct mini DVD-R recording capability, such as the Sony Handycam.

The discs also are compatible with all PCs and DVD recorders that support the DVD-R and DVD-RW format and are playable in most DVD players.

Memorex mini DVD-R discs also are compatible with Hitachi and Panasonic camcorders after discs are inserted into a plastic disc carrier/caddy. These single-sided DVD-R discs are ideal for long-term archiving.

The company's mini DVDs, 3 1/8 inches or 8 cm in diameter, come five to a package for a suggested $24.99 retail and three to a package for a suggested $24.99.

This June, Memorex will offer Single Sided Dual Layer DVD discs in the +R format, available in 5- and 10-packs.

The discs offer 8.5GB of capacity, and four hours of record time, at 2.4x speed. Dual layer DVDs are recordable in new DVD recorders with Dual Layer Compatibility and are playback compatible in most DVD players.
