Stereo One Joins HTSA Group

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 3/8/2004

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO.— Stereo One, a four-unit A/V and mobile audio specialty chain based here, has joined the Home Theater Specialists of America (HTSA), becoming the buying group's 48th member.

Principal John Selby said he joined the organization partly because of its efforts to help strengthen the relationship between specialty retailers and vendors. "Vendors too often seek the help of mass merchants with wide distribution due to lack of performance by independent retailers," he said. "As this retailer-vendor relationship grows and open dialog follows, association with vendors can be true, predictable and long-term."

Stereo One operates four stores in southeast Missouri and southern Illinois, two of which carry mobile audio only. The $10 million-plus business specializes in upper mid- to high-end A/V products, with a strong emphasis on custom installation.
