OKLAHOMA CITY— A GE-brand universal remote control, called the Disc, is said to be among the thinnest and lightest remotes in the industry, according to maker Jasco Products.
Utilizing what Jasco calls innovative components and technology, the six-device remote controls televisions, VCRs, DVD players, audio receivers and satellite receivers, cable boxes and CD players.
The Disc, model RM24945, offers a 64k chip, more than 800 infrared codes of data and compatibility with 350 brands.
Jasco, which said the Disc "brings originality, uniqueness, utility, innovation and broad-scale attractiveness to the average consumer looking for an affordable universal remote," is emphasizing the unit's round sleek design and low profile.
The high-tech remote is said to complement today's digital, platinum-look equipment dominating A/V hardware. It has a contoured underside with ergonomic design, allowing for a comfortable and secure grasp, and one-hand control. It lies flat in the palm, with ease of reach across the keypad, allowing fast access to all keys. The back lighted device keys alert the user to what device currently is being used.
Suggested retail is $14.99.
