Honda Launches HDD

TOKYO— Honda will offer the first OEM hard disk drive (HDD) audio and navigation system for new Honda Civic models sold in the Japanese market. The units allow quick navigation information access via a cellphone connection to the Internet, said Honda. Also included is a 6.5-inch touch screen that displays artist, album and track name listings via the Gracenote CDDB recognition service.

XM Nears 1M Subs

WASHINGTON — XM Satellite Radio said it reached a total of 929,648 subscribers at the close of the third quarter with the addition of 237,395 new subscribers for the quarter. The company said it remains on track to reach 1.2 million subscribers by the end of the year.
